LED Display Steering Wheels Explained: How They Work and What They Show
The LED race display is the option that turns heads: a slim digital screen built into the top of a custom steering wheel, showing live driving data exactly where your eyes already are. Here is how it works and what to expect.
What the display shows
- RPM shift lights — a strip of LEDs that sweeps across as revs climb and flashes at your shift point, motorsport style.
- Current gear and speed — big, readable digits at a glance.
- Temperatures — coolant and oil, the numbers tuned-car owners actually watch.
- Extra data depending on the car — boost pressure, lap timing and more on supported models.
How it works
The display is integrated into the wheel during the build and reads your car's data in real time. It lives entirely inside the wheel's top section — no screens stuck to the dash, no wiring draped over the column. Your original airbag and buttons stay in place as on every wheel we build, so the car remains MOT-friendly (see our legality guide).
Which cars can have one?
The LED option is available across most of the range — it's especially popular on BMW M cars, Golf GTI and R, Mercedes AMG and fast Fords. Compatibility depends on your model and year, so tell us your car on WhatsApp before ordering and we'll confirm what the display can show on your platform.
What it pairs with
Almost every LED build combines the display with carbon fibre and Alcantara — the display sits flush in the carbon top for a factory-plus finish. A flat bottom completes the racing profile.
